Re: Student misconduct by students, Jeffrey A Wilson and Andrew Ginster

I am writing to voice my concerns about two students on campus. One is my nephew, Jeffrey A Wilson. The other is Andrew Ginster. He is Jeffrey's roommate at 411 Cougar Village 2B. They are in violation of the Student Code of Conduct, both on campus and off. Their violations are with respect to the illegal use of drugs and the illegal consumption of alcohol by minors.

To bolster these claims, I have caught them on video smoking pot. And, they bragged on their Facebook pages about their consumption of alcohol and such at their apartment at Cougar Village. You can view this evidence at: http://felineleukemia.org/JeffWilson/

I have alerted the police, as well as Counseling Services, about this ongoing misconduct. Jeffrey, at least, receives federal student aid (FAFSA), National Science Foundation (NSF) funding, along with other sources of state and federal aid. He is using that money to engage in illegal activities, and it needs to be investigated. I am trying to get him to go to rehab, but most of the family is ignoring his substance abuse problems for various reasons. Both of his parents are in prison for severe drug crimes, and I fear that Jeffrey is following in their footsteps.

I am further distressed that Andrew Ginster is about to attend class observation studies as part of his School of Eduction curriculum by visiting high schools in the area. Mr. Ginster has a long history of emotional issues, including attempted suicide. I have watched his behavior deteriorate this year as he continues to be consumed by drug and alcohol abuse.

You can look into Mr. Ginster's history at Cougar Village this year for further evidence of this. Last semester, he got into physical altercations with his previous roommates. This semester, the SIUE police have visited his and Jeffrey's apartment to investigate the “strong odor of marijuana smoke” coming from the apartment. A record of that visit is on file with the SIUE police.

Mr. Ginster further is known to have been researching ways to foil the required urine test before attending these class observations. Therefore, it would be prudent for the university to order a special hair follicle test for Mr. Ginster to show conclusively that he has been using drugs.

Mr. Ginster claims that he is under a great deal of stress due to family issues at home. He claims that he is short-tempered because of this. This stress, combined with his drug and alcohol consumption, make him dangerous and unpredictable. Therefore, he should not be anywhere near high school students until he undergoes the proper counseling and rehabilitation for these issues.

It is my hope that your office may intervene and get these students the help they so desperately need right now. They could both have bright futures at SIUE. But, they are throwing those away now in favor of drugs and alcohol. Thank you for any and all assistance you may provide to assist them.

Sincerely,

James G Wilson
